Free Mortgage Information

Are you confused about the array of affordable mortgage products that sound too good to be true?

A new pamphlet jointly released by five bank, thrift and credit union regulators. The 17-page document, available on the agencies' Web sites and downloadable in PDF format, discusses non-traditional mortgage products, such as interest-
only and adjustable-rate loans. Its list of terms and worksheet should help consumers determine which type of loan best suits their needs. The regulators say consumers also can turn to lenders if they have questions about the risks of the various lending options. To download the brochure, go to:

Southwest Florida

For those of you who are not familar with the Southwest Florida area, this should help:

Bonita Springs
This is Southwest Florida's newest city incorporated in 2000, even though it's history goes back to 1888. Bonita is on of the areas fastest growing and most diverse communities with about 43,000 residents. It is located between Fort Myers to the north and Naples to the south.

Cape Coral
This town was created in the late 1950's and early 1060's and includes around 400 miles of canals with over 150,000 residents. It is a boaters paradise located accross the Caloosahatchee River from Fort Myers.

Estero
Founded in 1894 by 250 pioneering settlers it has 30,000 residents and is located just south of Fort Myers.

Fort Myers
Lee county's oldest city incorporated in 1886. In the heart of the city is the government center with the downtown riverfront undergoing large changes to attract residences in high rise condos and upgraded building with many new shops.

Fort Myers Beach
The first real estate boom hit the beaches in 1925. It is a popular area with shops and hotels catering to tourists. There are 6,800 people who live on the 7 mile long island.

LeHigh Acres
Located on the east side of Lee County, it has a population of more than 60,000 people that enjoy 5 golf courses and is one of the most affordable areas for real estate attracting young familes and retirees.

North Fort Myers
Of course it is located north of Fort Myers accross the Caloosahatchee River with a population of 50,000 who are 2nd and 3rd generation residences. New construction along the river is changing the face of the city.

Pine Island
Located in the northwest corner of Lee County, one can find commercial fishermen, bird watchers, artists and palm tree farms. The 17 mile island was once the home of the Calusa Indians and has a great history. If you wish to see a part of "old Florida", check it out.

San Carlos Park
The median age of residents in this area is 34, making it the youngest community in Lee County. Developed in 1953, it has seen its population grow to about 17,000 people and is just south of Fort Myers.

Sanibel and Captiva Islands
Voted as a city in 1974, Sanibel contains about 6,300 people that live full time with 400 people on Captiva. These islands are a favorate for it's beaches and biking.

Natural Disaster Financial Readiness

Often we concentrate on the protection of our physical assets, but our financial assets need protection from a disaster as well.

Here is what to include in your financial readiness disaster kit.

Insurance policies.
Health insurance information.
Photocopy of driver's license.
Birth, death and marrage certificates.
Social Security card.
Passport.
Will and living will.
Mortgage/property deeds.
Military records.
Car titles.
Trust documents.
Tax return.
Emergency contacts.
Personal property inventory.

In addition, be sure you know the shelter nearest to your home.
